What is Dental Caries and How Do You Prevent It?

The best way to treat dental caries is to prevent it from ever happening
Caries, literally translated, means rotten or foulness. Therefore dental caries, commonly known as cavities, refers to the rotting portion of a tooth. I came across a video that does a nice job of explaining the process of tooth decay. Let me know what you think.

The best way to prevent dental caries is to prevent the problem from ever occuring. Here are a few tips:

  • Reduce the amount of plaque and bacteria in your mouth by brushing and flossing daily.
  • Use antibacterial mouth rinses to reduce the levels of bacteria that cause cavities.
  • Eat less sugary and starchy foods
  • Chew gum that contains xylitol
  • Strengthen your teeth by using flouride
  • The use of sealants to protect the teeth

Impacted Wisdom Teeth: Symptoms and Treatment

by admin

Symptoms associated with impacted wisdom teeth
Symptoms associated with impacted wisdom teeth
Impacted wisdom teeth can be a source of discomfort in the head, face, and mouth.

The extraction of wisdom teeth is necessary when they are prevented from properly erupting within the mouth. Poorly positioned or impacted wisdom teeth can cause many problems, including changing the natural alignment of your other teeth, infection, or the formation of tumors or cysts around the impacted wisdom teeth, resulting in the destruction of the jawbone and healthy teeth.

When wisdom teeth are extracted before the age of 25, these problems can be avoided, with patients recovering faster and experiencing far fewer complications. Here’s a video that describes the procedures used to extract impacted wisdom teeth.
